Interventional pain management, or interventional pain medicine, is a medical subspecialty of pain medicine that diagnoses and treats pain with minimally invasive procedures that can alleviate pain and minimize the use of oral medications.

Pain management physicians offer many modalities to accommodate your individual plan of care. Interventional therapies for acute and chronic pain conditions as part of the comprehensive treatment program are most common. Many interventional pain procedures are available on an outpatient basis, which is vital to ensuring cost-effective access to care. Some minor interventional procedures can be performed in an office setting, while other more advanced procedures require special training and an ambulatory surgery center.

Surgeries performed in an ambulatory surgery center are safe, quick, and allow the patient to return to their normal day-to-day activities by the next day. Some of the benefits to outpatient procedures in an ambulatory surgery center include:

  • All procedures that we offer involves a very small incision, an inch or two, which results in less risk for infection and blood loss.
  • Most procedures that we offer are either reversable or include a trial period with little reprecussions to the body. Most traditional major back surgeries or joint replacements can leave permanent damage with little relief of the actual pain area.
  • Most procedures performed in an ambulatory surgery center are way more cost efficient than traditional surgeries.
  • Most of our procedures have little to recovery time, providing the patient to return to their typical daily routine in just a few days!

Here is a chart showing the degree of complexity of the interventional procedures that we provide to our patients suffering from chronic pain.

When treatments such as physical therapy and oral medication are incapable of helping manage a patient’s pain effectively, an injection or minimally invasive procedure may be necessary to help provide an adequate level of pain relief. Often, these treatments are used in conjunction with other pain management modalities to provide maximum relief for the longest period of time.

Comprehensive Centers For Pain Management offers a wide variety of minimally invasive procedures designed to reduce pain and improve the function of our patients. The above diagram shows the degree of complexity for some of these procedures. Common treatments Comprehensive Centers for Pain Management offers are:

Nerve Blocks
Epidural Steroid Injection
Injections
Fusion
Interspinous Spacer
Intrathecal Drug Delivery Pump
Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression (MILD)
Kyphoplasty
Spinal Cord Stimulator
Discectomy
Peripheral Nerve Stimulator

New technology and more effective procedures are being developed daily to help reduce patient’s pain and their reliance on opioids and other prescription pain drugs. CC4PM has been an early adopter of several new advances in pain management and treatment, and provides the highest quality and most advanced treatments available.
